Sony DSC W330

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W330 is a 14-megapixel camera has a 4x optical zoom and a 26mm wide angle lens. Sony also includes their technology for iAuto think change free/hassle free shooting, and a program mode with access to more advanced options. The W330 also features an “Easy” option that covers both still images and video. I’m not sure why this was necessary to include, as is already equipped with the iAuto mode. After the camera as much as I do, I can not understand why one would choose to use the simple setting. At best, makes your shots because of the lack of adjustment options, but especially feels differently limited because you can not make changes to the settings yourself. In contrast, an incredible step by Sony that they accept the memory card port configured SD/SDHC media type and its Memory Stick Duo cards.

The construction of the W330 is more to me. It feels clunky and, well, cheap, I must interject that the camera is doing a satisfactory sale price of only $ 169.95. But, we all want to feel like we get more for our money, as it seems. deliver on this account of the W330, but please read on how to do things better. Physical properties are only a fraction of the picture.

The shooting performance timing tests went well with the camera. We have a fairly standard results with the W330, which are marked on the right. A few things to note are the good results with the shot to shot delay, with and without using the flash. The burst mode was quite good, at 0.86 frames per second, although I was disappointed that the flash is not available in burst mode.

As I said, please bear in mind, because things better to read? These next two paragraphs are, and why. The camera may not have won over me with their look and feel, but the man can shoot this thing great pictures. Outdoors, the W330 brought fabulous. I was really happy with our standard images that are included with each camera, as images were sharp and the colors true. The day I caught them was definitely sunny and I think the W330 manages the bright sunshine, very good. Even my portraits turned out great.

Inside was more of the same. When taking the camera snapshots performed better when using the flash as opposed to try to take pictures with only available light. A tripod or monopod would be better if you shoot your results without flash, but the flash has a great job, especially when I set it to the slow sync flash. Take a look at the M & M pictures 172 and 177, both of which were acquired with the same ISO settings, but the 177 and 172 was used SlowSyncro Flash flash straight. It really has a great job of filling the scene with more light. Looking at our standard M & M test shots, I was impressed by what the camera in all the various ISO settings. There was only one question that I noticed. From ISO 1600, the picture really begins to degrade, and when I say that I mostly that the colors are darker, and the image has a gray overcast, feel to it. ISO 3200 is, as I often say, not very helpful, with images looking very grainy and dark.

Another problem I had with the camera while trying to use the macro mode. There is no way to get the camera in macro mode power, you have to use iAuto and wait to decide on the camera that the scene requires it provides focus to use the macro mode. Sometimes it works immediately, but in other cases it took a while to change until the sensor to Macro mode.

There are not many editing features, but I was very happy with the In-Camera Red-Eye Reduction process. This playback option allows you to quickly remove red eye from your subject, without the image later on your PC or Mac process. Below is a side by side comparison of an image before and after the process.

The video mode, the Sony W330 was average. My most positive comment would take it that video works. In addition, there was nothing that, in relation to the video. You can either VGA (640×480) or QVGA (320×240) shoot resolutions with sound. At the price point of this camera’s main purpose is to provide good image quality, the W330 will be met.

Turn the W330 is a 3.6 V Li-ion battery. Sony’s website says that you should get about 230 shots on a fully charged battery. During our shoot we use at least 230 photos, probably more on the 240 mark. If you spent all this time you add it on, the display of the menus, look through the pictures and the examination of the various functions seems the W330 have too much power. The battery is via an external charger, which calculates to connect into any standard wall outlet, so the purchase of an additional battery is recommended, even with the W330 great battery life. You would hate to miss that once in a lifetime shot for an empty battery.

The Sony W330 is a good value. You will receive fantastic still pictures, which after all, why someone buys a camera, but do not expect any real bells and whistles, because they simply do not exist. With a price of $ 169US or less, we have no problem recommending the W330 for everyone in the compact class, the market for a cheap camera with good image quality looks, that’s very easy to use.
